fluids
This is a subject that has been discussed, cussed, and mentioned often. Lot of different opinions. This is what I do. I don't bother to justify it and I don't care what others do or don't do. I change my oil every 2500 to 3000 miles with a good syn 20/50 several times a year. I change my primary oil and use HD brand primary oil everytime I change my engine oil. I change my transmission oil with a 90/130 syn usually every 10,000 miles give or take a few. I change my fork oils every year. Brake fluid every two years.
I try to do mine (ours) every 3,000 miles.
With the cost of oil(s), filter, gaskets I can understand those who have the dealer service their bikes waiting until the 5,000 miles mark.
I'm old school and I don't buy into the "three hole" oil.
I use motor oil in my motor, chaincase oil in the primary, and trans oil in the trans. (I currently use the Red Line Shockproof in my Baker DD6) and I think I'll start using it in my wife's '08 Heritage.
For the summer months, I use H-D straight 50w and for the other 9 months the H-D 20w-50w , regular oil as I believe it is better in hotter temps.
My 2000 Ultra (77,000 miles) has had the fork oil changed once but the brake fluid is pretty much original except for bleeding when I change the brake pads.
