I wear Danners when I ride. I see alot of guys wearing black leather as well as dirt bike boots. I realize that dirt bike boots protect you worth their weight in gold on a dirt bike. Do street bike boots do the same thing? Should I stick with regular boots?
Don't know about the dirt bike boot verses the regular boot thing but I wear a pair of Sear's steel toed boots that come up to just over the ankle. The leather is extra heavy and the sides are reinforced. They are comfy and my feet don't get too hot in the summer.
Don't cut corners on your boots whatever you decide. A good friend hit a deer about three years ago and he was wearing a pair of light leather hiking boots and he still ended up with a smashed ankle that caused a limp he has to this day.
I cringe when I see guys riding around in tennis shoes.
When I run a quick errand I use tennis shoes. For everything else I do use Timberland Hikers. I used to wear heavy leather boots of various makes but felt uncomfortable long term in them and hated walking in them.
Now I can wear the boots all day and can walk a distance. It still provides protection and ankle support. Everything is a compromise one way or the other and this is the one I chose.
I usually wear Carolina loggers but I picked up a pair of these a month ago. As comfortable as any boot I've had out of the box. A little slippery at first but that changed after the first hour of walking. Saftey toe & a non abrasive finish that doesn't scuff or cut from the toe shifter. Excellent boot if it fits your style. I got mine for 117 shipped from the working persons shoe site. Search for coupons. 10% off & free shipping.
Timberland also offers a 30 day money back guarantee if you don't like them. Send the boots to them with the receipt & Timberland will reimburse the buyer.
I've got a pair of steel-toe Carolina's I've had for close to 10yrs. Need to be replaced but they are so damn comfortable I hate the thought of having to break in a new pair.
