I had a pair for about three months, unfortunatly thezipper on the left boot started coming apart. the zipper would split down its connection. The boots are made buy wolverine, which makes a prety good pari of cheap boots but the zippes suck. I had a cobbler replace the zipper and the same thing happeded again. The boots are comfortable, yet I have had the seam sealed up and just lace them up now. Don't buy. Some are good some are bad.

I had my first pair about 2 months when I went to Daytona Bike Week and rode in the rain for several days straight. The zipper on one of the boots split. Since I had just gotten the boots, I went to New Smyrna HD to see if I could get a new pair. They said that I would have to take them back where I bought them because I had had them over 30 days. Well, I could understand that, but I needed some boots and since it was Bikeweek, the only boot they had in my size was the same boot. I took a chance and got them. That was in spring 2002 and 5 years and thousands of miles later (some in the rain) I have had not one problem with them. So I guess itcould go either way. I am looking at a new pair with zippers though, they are so comfortable and I've had no trouble with the zippers not staying up.

For the record, when I got back home the dealer where I bought the boots also said the 30 day warrenty was expired, but they gave me a credit for the amount I had paid for the boots.

I prefer pull-on boots or laced boots,I never feel like the zippers would last.

I'm glad I saw this post. I've been online for an hour or so looking at the HD brake buckle steel toe boot. The place I work at is making us all buy steel toe boots by Feb 1st. They are paying half up to $75.00, so I figured they might as well help buy me some riding boots. A friend brought his new brake buckle boots into work today for me to see, & they looked like a really good boot. Kinda "blingy" for work, but what the hell.
Iwould think for riding, cold weather + steel toe boots = cooold feet...[sm=confused06.gif]

I wanted a pair of zippered boots for riding and thought I'd try the Danner Duty Boots from Cabela's. These boots are gore-tex lined and fairly expensive but that's what I wanted for taking trips on the bike...lightweight, waterproof, and something I can walk in comfortably. The zippers onthe first pair were hard to work and sometimes didn't work at all unless you reefed on them. Had them send me a second pair and the zippers on them worked even harder than the first. Maybe it was just the brand or the style (side zip) but this kind of scared me away from zippered boots.

Bates Boots. Inside zipper with velcro flap at top so zipper can't work it way down. Good boot.

You know, you got a point. It does get damn cold here in Nebraska, & cold tootsies in the middle of a ride would suck.
