Can't put a price on the solid feeling knowing the bike is nailed to the road regardless of what antics or conditions your in , I'll run them till they don't do the job anymore .
Avon Venoms are known for their handling and stickiness, and that comes at the sacrifice of mileage.
The Metezler ME880's will give you noticeably better handling than the stock Dunflop tires and better tire life.
I love my Metezler 880's....except for some reason, the front tire whines very noticeably at around 40 MPH
They have about 1K on them and they are NOT cupped.
It is driving me crazy enough that I am looking at replacing them and keeping the 880's on my back up rims
Anyone else ever have that problem? I have tried from 30 to 45 LBS, no difference in the noise
it is definitely in the tire, I shut the bike off just to check. I also had the front bearings replaced.....still there
I run Avon Venoms as well. Last summer I put a new set on and rode about 1,000kms. Then I went on a road trip of 8,240kms carrying about 150lbs of baggage. Since then I've put on about anther 1.500kms. Totalling about 10,700kms.
So far the tires hardly show any signs of wear. At this rate, I'm sure I could go another 20,000kms before the rear needs changing. I love these tires, and they handle great.
I don't know if it's a factor in tire longevity, but I run Dyna Beads in them, and they roll smooth as glass at any speed. Just a thought.
