I wouldn't count on it

Does it take any longer to just stand there and squeeze the nozzle as your fueling? Ive even heard rumors that you can even watch the fuel level rise up as your pumping... What a novel Ff'n idea

Auto shutoff while fueling your bike Cant fix stupid

WTF? I guess it just isn't texting cagers folks need to worry about.

I have absolutely nothing constructive to add except to note that this useless thread went nine pages. Is this a great forum or what?

It's kind of like watching a train wreck, you know it's going to be messy, but you can't look the other way.

ynots, I didn't mean they WOULD shut off. I was just indicating everything being equal, it doesn't matter if you hold the lever or put it on the little catch - either way it will either shut off or keep pouring.

I just got back from Canada and a couple friends came with (I usually travel alone) - we stopped at a gas station and for the first time I set the lever and was talking to them (I was right next to the tank) when the gas started pouring out of the tank, about a half gallon. I guess I can't talk and pour gas at the same time.
Luckily nothing caught fire. I've never had a pump NOT stop, whether I was holding the lever or not.

Normally I pour 4 gallons and then watch through the filler hole until full.

Actually the OP didn't say he locked the pump handle on,,

He did say it didn't click off when the gas filled the nozzle..

I' ve had that to happen to me also and the pump handle wouldn't shut off one time, gas going everywhere..

Looking like a water fountain I ended up just throwing the handle to the ground on the other side of the pumps and it finally shut off..

I wasn't to happy, well really pi$$ed,, I went inside and the kid behind the counter said, "OH yeah,, We had a DO NOT USE" sign on that pump,,, BUT it blew off a while ago... I am thinking don't someone inside have to clear the pump before it starts...duh..

And Yeah I prepaid with credit card so I also paid for the extra gallon or so that came out. I did fill out some form for refund but that didn't happen either. Well least not since the yr ago since it happened..

I never auto fill my bike. It's a tedious manual process. And we got those stupid vapor recovery tubes that I have to hold up with one hand while holding the lever down with the other. It's a real PITA.

Yeah, but it's more of a pain if you set yourself and your bike on fire.

Default push down on the cap.

I've had trouble with it since I bought it last fall with gas coming out of the gas cap if it's more than 3/4 full. The dealer couldn't find anything wrong, so they installed a new seal on the cap. So I've been filling it a little more at each fill up to see if I can put the fuel level to the bottom of the black filler neck without it leaking out the cap. This time I just didn't get it shut off in time and it didn't click off when full. I know it won't hurt the bike and I did clean it up when I got home, but I thought there might just be a kernel of wisdom out there that might be helpful. I know, I expect too much from people.
when you put the cap on, do you just turn it to the click or do you take the heel of your palm and push down and turn more. The cap will get tighter if you do the heel down hard and turn. I fill my heritage up as far as it will fill. Never had a problem with gas puking back out
