But i think what you need is something substantially less.
My iphone also shoots good images and video,and does everything else.

The GO Pro is probably one of the best all around cameras. You can buy extra batteries and now they have an lcd that plugs into the back of the unit.

This is what we use, not sure if it meets your needs since it doesn't have a way that I am aware of to mount on the bike, but ours did good on our trip this summer to Maine. We bought 2 32Meg memory cards for ours. But never tried the video capability on the trip.

Thank you everyone for your responses/suggestions.

At this time, I don't want to mount a camera to the bike or myself in any fashion, at least that's not my desire right now anyways.

For now, I just want a nice pocket sized unit that I can take good quality pics from the seat of the bike with. Obviously, an excellent image stabilization system in the camera would be paramount.

Something as automatic and point-n-shoot as possible. Something to pull out of my jacket pocket and grab a spur-of-the-moment pic on the fly.

What about Panasonic, Cannon, Nikon, etc? Or, maybe I should look into a phone with a good camera?
