Langlitz Leathers
My guess is once you go this route you will end up with a price that is similar to Langlitz. I think this is the missing point here. It's not an apples to apples comparison unless it is a tailored fit. If you get a custom made suit it'll cost you over $2,500 (or more) http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/09/ma...oc.semityn.www
Unless you happen to order one while travelling in China or another country in the East.

A little tip on Lexol. Add a small amount of Fiebling's Leather Dye (maybe a teaspoon or two to a 200 ML container of Lexol). The Lexol will carry the dye into the leather and keep the jacket black even around the major wear points. Learned this from a retired motorcycle cop - 40 years service! Showed me his original Sears M/C jacket (yes Sears!). Looked like new.
In the mean time I wish you and your anger a happy life together.
cheers.
The workmanship is incredible, the leather-work is immaculate and this jacket, like my other Langlitz before... NEVER leaves my eyesight... anywhere, when it's off my back!
I wear the jacket both on the bike and around town and keep it conditioned with the Langlitz dressing that's some of the best conditioner I've ever used.
Other manufactures might also be good and YMMV. However, for my money, Langlitz is still the best leather I've ever worn!
Couple the Langlitz with Wesco boots and you've got REAL ALL AMERICAN MADE.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Guys like you only make inference regrding price point, but what is funny, Langlitz is the only thing you can buy that is related to your Bike that will maintain its value 10-20-30 years later.
If you have no use for leathers maybe you ought to get out an ride a bit more.
And YES, I have owned several Langlitz leathers over the years all of which I sold at various times on ebay. Every single one of the listings I had got a flag and a demand from Langlitz to verify their authenticity. How Langlitz has some kind of agreement with ebay to hassle sellers of their secondhand wares is beyond me. But I will say that the attitude of the people I had correspondences with at Langlitz was not much unlike our caffeinated friend here. But I'm sure that their salesman are all real nice. lol.
I and my wife own 3 and 2 jackets respectivly and a pair of pants. Best fit, workmanship, material and function. A rider and racer started that company. And for you trolls with the poser comments, we have the best because we ride a lot and use our leathers.
I live in California and both my wife and I travel to Portland to have our leathers made. They are a pleasure to visit. (Well worth the plane ticket or ride to Portland). And very easy over the phone, I had to send in a jacket that I was wearing when I skided down the 57 freeway-(concrete rain grooves freeway speed) for repair. Came back brand new.
I've been riding over 45 years and my Langlitz jacket (Columbia/padded/goat no extra pockets) is simply the best gear I ever bought. I liked it enought that the next year I bought the pants w/padded knees. I had to wait because I'm retired and not rich.
Whether it's worth it to you, only each person can answer that only for themselves. My saddle time is measured in many hundreds of thousands of miles. Yeah, it's worth it.
BTW, I've had Vanson, Brooks, Harley, Taylor and custom made Passaic Leather. None are half as good as Langlitz.
