Has anybody had any luck on trying to find a bike they used to own? My dad and I would really like to locate/ buy the old 82 FLH that my Grandpa used to own, that he sold to my dad.
He still has a photocopy of the old title so we do have the vin number, but I asked the people at the DMV here and they said that they can't trace them back for us. I tried an online search I believe it was cyclevin.com or something like that and it comes back as still being an active vin.
We know that it went to some place around the Lincoln, Nebraska area and was repainted to we believe a blue color, but that was like 8 years ago.
I've been hoping to track down an old truck for years that my father owned but I have no VIN of it. Friend of mine that works in CBP said with a VIN he could run it through the national insurance crime database and locate it for me. Probably not technically supposed to do that but if I were to find it id make one call and just be sure not to harass the owner. Id understand if someone was trying to find an old vehicle that I currently owned but some folks don't agree with that thought. Best of luck to you.
To be honest, I would be pissed if I found out someone in authority gave out my personal information without my permission. I have a car that I bought that was a 1 owner previously and if someone called me about it I would wanna know where they got that information and I'd be tempted to call a lawyer and the police...

Exactly my point, some folks just don't handle it well. And on the other hand if someone started harassing me after I said no id get upset with them but no need to jump on the cop/lawyer bandwagon. Unless it was unavoidable of course.
