It is a toll road. You have to pay to go 85 mph legally. And it is only a short distance. Now. Out in desolate West Texas the "speed limit" is 80 mph. But. That is what everyone drives anyway. Or more. Or get out of the way.
They raised the limit on I -15 in Southern Utah a couple years back to 80mph. Said on the local news that they did it because with the speed limit at 75 everyone was driving 80 anyway. Huh...see if you can guess how fast they are driving now.
Never been in that big of a hurry to get any where. They do say the best thing to come out of Texas is I-35, at 85 that would be pretty short trip.
Let's see, Gulf Beaches to the South, Mountains to the West, Beautiful Piney Woods to the East, and awesome Hill Country in between, and can't hardly drive across it in a day.
Yea, i can see where you have ***** envy living where you live....
Damn, that really puts us 5-Speed guys behind the eight ball. Even at 5 over, my Fat Boy would be singing a higher tune than I would like. It sounds like a carefully orchestrated plot by the MOCO to get people to trade up to new bikes with six speed transmissions.
The reason they raised the liit to 85 mph is because the highway is being run by a private company and Txdot feels that the 85 mph speed limit will attract more peiople to use the highway. There have recently been some big failures with these public/private roadways and the state ends up taking the roadway back and dealing with all the headaches instead of sitting back and receiving ther cut of the toll money.
