Default Transition lens - dark enough??

Just wondering if the users of transition lenses in their glasses find them to be dark enough when the sun is low in the sky?

I'm looking at getting riding glasses because my eyes water with my current glasses on. My glasses have transition lenses and they are not dark enough especially when the sun is low in the sky but I'm not sure if some of the problem is due to light filtering around the sides of the lenses. Maybe wrap around frames will help eliminate the problem. Having just one pair of glasses to use both day and night would be my preference, especially since cost is going to easily be $400 for a pair.

I have a pair of 7eye diablo glasses with the transition lenses. I find them dark "enough" but not very dark really. That said, the convenience outweighs the lack of darkness... I'm very used to them now and find them just right for any given lighting situations.

Not when the sun starts to set and it's in your line of vision.

A quirk of Transition lenses is that the warmer it gets, the less dark the lens turns. Very dark in winter, in summer not so much.

I use the Harley transition sunglass goggles and LOVE THEM! Crystal clear at night when needed and dark enough during early morning and late afternoon rides when the sun is low. I thought they were a little pricey at $100 a pair but compared to your $400 a pair they are cheap. Even if yours are prescription, $400 is way pricey!

I have transitions, and they're completely useless as sunglasses, IMO. They work ok when it's cold, but in the summer, when it's hot, they barely change at all. I learned my lesson, and will be buying 2 separate glasses from now on. I don't know why they can't make dark prescription sunglasses.

I have a pair of dedicated dark sunglasses for those bright, sunny days. More expensive than most but the advantage is worth it. I don't mind changing glasses even tho its a pain in the ***.

I have 7eye too.... RX transitions. Fine for riding in the sun but not dark enough for women not to know you're staring at their knockers. Not that i ever do that.
