I can't even begin to imagine what you have been & are going through.
You are bound to get depressed which is natural, but as bad as your crash was, you are blessed to still be alive. Hope your recup period is speedy, & hope you'r are riding again soon, be it 2 or 3 wheels.
I have no idea how these things work out legally but in my situation, after the attorneys fees I got about 40K out of the person's who hit me's car insurance /he had about 100k in liability. Then, with a little persistence on the part of my lawyer, some how, and I have no idea how, he got an additional 60K from MY car insurance. Maybe an insurance expert can shed a little light on this. Underinsured coverage maybe? Keep in mind, my auto insurance, had NOTHING to do with my mc insurance. In fact at the time I was a dirt poor 20 year old and I don't think I even had any mc insurance.
At the very least, you should at least consult with an attorney if you haven't already.
The citations she received will have little or no bearing on a civil settlement.
Yes you collected underinsured motorist up to the limits of YOUR policy. You had 100k underinsured motorist. The person that injured you must have had a limit of 40k. Your insurance company decided (with help from your lawyer no doubt) that your injuries were severe enough that you would easily win a lawsuit so they gave you the limits of your underinsured motorist liability, $100,000, minus what you collected from the person responsible, $40,000, equals an additional $60,000. I carry $250,000 uninsured and underinsured motorist for just this reason. The coverage is not expensive and is well worth it especially riding a motorcycle.

Alot of wisdom in this post, I'm getting the same, the womans insurance + my underinsured, I cant stress enough, CARRY ALOT OF UNDERINSURED!!!
In Michigan. if someone runs you off the road and leaves you injured, you can collect the uninsured motorist liability. This isn't true in all states but it's just another reason to buy the highest limits you can of UM and UNDM.

Early this summer a big black car pulled out of a line of oncoming traffic into my lane. I MISSED a high speed, head-on collision by inches, yet it screwed my head up.
With your injuries you have a lot to think about & the time to do it.
Please take that time & let yourself heal. Your family & friends, including those on this forum, will understand.

Glad to hear you're going to survive this. You can't compare your future self to your past self physically. All that will do is anger or depress you. Just go as far as you can and accept it. One thing to remember, chicks dig limps and scars.
