Went down hard...
Got addicted to morphine & percocet, spent another week in a rehab hospital learning to walk again. No, my friend, you are not the person you used to be, not with what you have experienced. Take the time to heal, but push yourself during rehab. And get off the narcotics as soon as you can. The entire healing time for us was about 19 months. I managed to beat the addiction with the help of my doctor. I also bought a 2010 Tri Glide to motivate me to get out of my wheelchair and back to walking.
PM me if you want to talk more.
Good luck, & God speed your recovery.

Thats kinda what I'm doing now looking at Trikes, it'll give me some motivation if its sitting in the garage, as for the pain killers my ortho surgeon has already started backing my dosages down to make it easier to get off them...Really not looking forward to the rehab..

I know, I'm 37 and I've ridden motorcycles since I got my first dirtbike at 10, I've just always wanted a trike, so this is the perfect opportunity to get one as it were...

However, things DO get better. I took about 3 years off of riding. Wasn't sure I would ride again, but whenever I saw a bunch of guys out riding, I REALLY missed it. I decided I didn't want to live a life in fear of doing the things I loved.
So, I got another bike, and been riding ever since.
My advice is, don't make any decisions now. You don't need to swear off 2 wheels forever. Wait until you are fully healed, then reevaluate how you feel.
If I look for a silver lining in my wreck, is that I KNOW I am a better rider today than I was then. Much more defensive, proactive and prepared.
All the best to you my friend, I know it is bad now, but I promise it WILL get better.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
You have time to wait and figure out what you will do time has a way of clearing the thinking.
I hit a deer August 30th at 60mph totaled my 2011 RGU and made a mess of my body. New bike is already ordered.
Shot of just the broken clavicle , some ribs on the other side.
A group of us PGR members were coming home from the Dennis Kirk Patriot Ride, and setting up for a left hand turn on a 65 mph four lane, riding against the setting sun. Even though there was no oncoming traffic, the lady cager in front of us suddenly stopped completely in the left hand side turn lane to answer her cell phone. Fortunately, the first three bikes were able to swerve around her, but it was so close we talk about it to this day. A couple of the following members stopped and chewed her out for being so stupid.
The sad thing is, if we had hit her, it would have been our fault.
