Market Flooded????
Well I may be deceiving myself but one of the justifications I use for spending so much for a Harley is that the money is not lost on something that will depreciate down to almost $0 like a metric..... If I had the luxury of knowing exactly which bike I would want forever then I guess it would not really matter. But I figure each change of bikes could cost up to $5000 or more in lost money if I don't buy them right and buy the right ones. The SE's seem to hold value better but they also seem to be harder to sell. Do you think the CVO bikes are a good investiment?
In the MC market there are basicly two separate categories. HD and everyone else.
This has always been just fine, cause the metric market was always kindof "second rate" you'd hear metric owners say, "It's nice, but it's not a Harley." Heck I said it myself.
The problem that was recently introduced is that some of the metrics are now damn nice, and they're giving HD a run for their money. (and they tend to cost quite a bit less) HD was looking at a potential market share loss.
To fix this potential problem, there were a couple solutions . . . either cut the price of a New HD, and sell a ton of 'em, or step up quality and the prestige factor and make it so that no matter how nice the metrics got . . . they were still not as good as a Harley.
It would seem that HDMC has gone with a hybrid solution. Biger plant, 6 speed transmission, interesting colors . . . and they're planning to sell a ton of 'em.
The price may come down a little, but I really wouldn't bank on that.
Buy what you want, ride the hell out of it, and enjoy every minute.don't beworried about a few hundred dollars equity. After all, It's a Harley.
