Stage one for now. Had someone lined up to take it further but haven't heard from him since our initial conversation so I assume he's doesn't need or want the business. I'll have to look for someone else.
Stage one and so happy I did it. Coming from a 1000 CC metric I was disappointed in the get up and go of my FXDWG off the floor. After the mod it seems to pull much harder. Maybe more mods in the future but it isn't a priority. I'm what you call a happy guy with things the way they are.
Better to have the power and not need it than need it and not have it.
I bought my bike with straight shot slip ons and a fuel pak. It surged while under little load, backfired or decel popped. V&H sent me 100 different variables to try out and nothing helped. Bike got 35mpg if I was lucky.
So I went with an S&S 106 kit, woods tw6-6 cams, ported heads with oversized valves that were shaved for compression and a pcv. I bought all aftermarket parts. After what I've read about Harley denying warantees over dumb stuff and the retards at my local dealer I'm not buying any Harley parts.
Bike now makes 107hp/115tq on a conservative tune. And now I'm getting 50mpg on the highway. It runs better than when I bought it and I couldn't be happier.
FXDC - stg 1 (SuperTrapp, AC & SERT)
FLHX - Would probably fall between 3 & 4. (Propipe, BC Gerolamy heads, KB pistons, .030 head gasket, AC, Woods 555's, SERT, compression releases and all the other goodies)
I've never chased cubic inches. Or stage kits. Why try to make the Harley something that it's not? Throwing a couple of grand to get a couple of miles a hour at the top end makes no sense. Go buy a Gold Wing or a Beemer for speed and power.
I will spend money on advanced training. Track schools to go fast and Ride like a Pro type schools to ride slow. And I practice both skills just about every time I ride.
I ride a 96"TC E-Glide now. I have seen a couple of 103 and 110's that were faster in a straight line. But throw in a S turn and it's over. And I'll run circles inside their circles all day, any day. Rider skill is much better than cubes and chrome. One you buy, the other you earn.
