ok i know you are probably tired of these questions but i need help choosing my bike
first of alk im not one to buy a bunch of different motorcycles and work up. i prefer to get ONE and get exactly what i want.
ok here goes...
i am 5 11 i weigh 260. i am diabetic so i am using this hobby as inspiration to lose weight and get healthy as well as start enjoying life.
Now i am taking the msf course next weekend its my bday present and my fiance is buying me a bike as my birthday/wedding present
i had decided i wanted a night train until i sat on the 48
i love the 48 love the size along with the way it feels.
i was determined that would be my bike but everyone who saw me on it said id be tired of it within a month. i am constantly being steered toward the larger bikes yet i always lean back to the 48. The only bigger bike i feel almost the attraction is the softail slim but i feel more in tune with the 48. Please help. ive never had a brand new vehicle i want to choose rigt. on one hand i feel others may be right but then again i know people who swear by their 250s and i swear tge 48 speaks to me as much as my car 1999 chrysler 300m hehe. thankyou in advance.
67 years old here. 6'1" and weigh 240...Been riding since I was 18.
The 48 will get old faster.
Are you the type of person that takes CARE of things. If not, look for a good used bike. 260 is a lot of luggage on a 48.
I ride a Road King. A new one would be an unwise choice as you have no experience
in riding or maintaining. Riding a bike is a COMPLICATED procedure, somewhat like
flying an airplane. you must be into paying attention.
You must like "piloting" the bike. I have always enjoyed the beauty AND challenge of riding. Have never been into looking kool anr into a scene. Just love riding a bike.
If your a pilot then you should be smart enough to be able to choose your own bike, but as a suggestion...5-11/260...Heritage softail!
& no thats not what I ride,but I have had one,well balanced,comfortable,with a windshield.You'll be glad you did.Especially for a 1st.bike if you stick with it.
losing weight and getting healthy : motivation
yes i can make my own decision but i thought if i asked more knowledgeable people it might help
sorry i asked

How many miles have you put on the various bikes you are looking at?
I recommend you go rent a Sportster, if you are really thinking you'll like one (I think it'll be too small in a few months). Also rent a Softail, and maybe a Road King. Put a couple hundred miles on each. Note what you like and what you don't. Figure it out from there.
Also, are you planning on ever doing any two up riding?
