Seems it's the new in thing to get all patched up , can't just buy a goddamn bike and enjoy it today gotta have the ego props & all the stage show .
Hit a local biker bar tell the drunkest one in there your banging his sister so he can hook you up with some kool scars to go along with the shiny new patch , chicks will dig them .
He is Canadian, not American. Vast majority of Americans aren't in clubs. Still have rugged individualism, over here. Just not newsworthy.
Come visit us sometime. Lots of American girls are suckers for your accent.
I don't get it.
My mistake, but still applies, not just bikers but every man and his dog seem to wearing patches in America, and I have been there a few times, my inlaws ( both Brits ) have lived in S/ Carolina for some 40 years.
ive only recently got my first Harley (which is also my first on-road bike), and have been reading all kinds of stuff on MC groups, not that I was at all interested in joining one, I was just thinking about slapping my last name on the back of my jacket and maybe an American Flag or something like that, and having my four other brothers and my Dad do the same, the old man has always talked about wanting all of us kids getting Harleys so we could go on rides together as a family, so I thought it would be cool to "represent" who we are and show some family pride, but after reading all the crap online about how people can get bent out of shape over the stuff, I think Ill forego putting anything on my jacket.

Reason: typo
You don't want to start an MC.
MC's are complicated and too involved.
You want to start an RC (Riding Club).
If you put patches on your vest or jacket just try to make sure they
don't look like or look too similar to any local MC patches.
I started a small RC with some friends and family.
Probably grow a little more but not too big.
We just have T-shirts with the club name and logo right now but will
eventually get patches made for our vest.
It will be a single patch with all of the words and logo.
When I say "Do I make you horny baby", apparently it does
My brother in law lives in South Oxfordshire and has mentioned numerous times that the funky teeth thing is true.
I guess if you have to be stereotyped I'd pick having patches over a mouthful of stinky, rotten, cheese growing, crooked, putrid, teeth. One is easily fixed by removing the offending patches once you get tired of it. Lord only knows what you gotta go through to get your funky grill fixed once you get to the point where you can't stand the smell wafting up from your funky piehole.

the politics and drama associated with starting and successfulyl runnign a new rc or mc in any region is more hassle then tis worth, its great you got some good quality riding bud's but the moment you put a patch on your back you'll find it's really no differnt then riding without one except you get alot more headaches to deal with. but meh d owhat ya want my opinion is only worth what ya paid for it
My advice: study the link provided by Captain Smooth and if you still feel the need to start a club, even a riding club, check in w your local 81. They will provide further guidance.
Question: why don't you and your buddies just join an existing club - there are tons of riding clubs in and around your area?
And don't listen to a thing Pondskipper says on this subject. He doesn't have a clue. What he knows can create problems for you. It's not about 'Rights', it's about tradition and respect - which means something in the MC world, even if it doesn't to outsiders. And that's where the trouble often begins.
