Why don't you guys just ride together,I don't know what it is with you Americans and patches, unfortunately it's spread to the UK with Hog members walking around smothered in them, used to be only kids were into that kinda thing.
im new to the scene but im already planning to join the "Combat Veterans Association"
My reason for doing so is that im a gearhead and im proud to be a Marine Combat Vet and like being in the company of fellow grunts.
I had thought about looking this club up but I was with the 1st MAW and being on an air base might disqualify me. Still, I don't want a club to be feel like a job.
Welcome Home Brother, and welcome to the CVMA. I've been a member 5 years and think it's a great group of men and women. If you have any questions PM me. Hope to see you at an event. And remember, while we are not an MC, We Earned our patches.
Amen! You Vietnam grunts are some hardcore guys and I respect the hell out of you! I'm a fallujah vet so feel Ive earned plenty enough lol.
Ok, here are the quick facts first. I'm sorta new here and only had my WG 1 year...I always thought that the rice rocket was the way to go...anyway..My wife and I buy 2 new bikes have them in the drive way...2 other guys stop by with their bikes...we start to hang and ride together, then another dude see's 4 bikes at our house he stops..now there's 5 !. Then a guy 6 houses up pulls out this jap bike and comes over....now you have 5 harleys in the driveway..but this guy has Bob Marley painted all over his bike...too cool. So after to many beers in my garage we're gonna start our own little club. My question to this form is this...from what I have read the HA don't like anyone with bottom rockers is that true? another is that they don't like MC on jackets either. We have a few HA, loners, Vag's, around and we don't want to **** anyone off. We're all over 50..lol 4 of us retired..and think this will be fun trying to raise a few bucks for Autisum...any thought's? oh and if you live near Newmarket Ontario...come'on over

Give Laffin Devils a call and tell them that you would like to open up a new chapter. Should not be any problems........And maybe you be on TV as well !
You really don't need to patch, but sometimes, the local will get a bit upset if they begin to see you riding all over and not wearing anything. The reason is that other clubs have been known to go into an area, and simply not wear their cuts while they scout it out.
My best advice is to pick up some kind of local biker mag and see if there are any functions going on, then go check them out. You can learn a lot by talking to the people who've been around for a while, and they should help you get straight on whatever the local customs might be. They change from place to place.
This week at the airport I seen a NATO supporter patch with a Canada rocker on the bottom...no MC on it though. Also there is a military vet MC in my area with a one piece. And to add a Christian MC with both rockers. Which I am curious...military & religion usually get an exemption from the bad guys?

Starting an RC is fine and traditional - if it feels good do it but don't become posers which is something that happens a bit with some other RCs. Maintain respect for the existing traditions within your community and area.
Great advice was already given on exactly how to do that here especially concerning the OCC - the link was even provided - use it and join; it's for a very good cause and you'll benefit yourself, your friends and the motorcycle community at large and it's cheap.
In Ontario being an active member of the OCC as an RC or an independent will solve all issues and answer all your questions about this tricky stuff. You're local to me so we'll have to meet sometime - maybe at a meeting.
