NEED URGENT HELP: my tire looks like its splitting
I was washing my bike and noticed that there's a trail going around my tire right down the middle of the bike.
I put these michelin commander 2 front and rear tires on about 2 mths and 3000 miles ago.
I'm 100% positive this is not due to wear and in the following pictures you can see views of the tire spun around 1/4 turn each photo.
Does this look dangerous to continue riding with?
Anyone experienced it before?
My buddy thinks it's manufacturer's fault and should be replaced, if so, how do I go about this, do i go back to the shop or contact michelin?
I am riding to Vegas this weekend from Cali and thus need to figure something out ASAP.
From what I can see in the pictures, my concern would be to the point of keeping my eye on it. I wouldn't necessarily condemn the tire yet.
I don't see any actual "split" in which case I wouldn't ride on it. It looks more like a little porosity in the tire compound and some resultant flaking.
Now if you can get the tire replaced by whoever you got it from before your trip, that sure can't hurt. But I wouldn't cancel my trip.
