I think the main question is about what location to mount a drink holder... I've tried both handlebar (and/or switch housing) and engine guard bar. Handlebar won hands-down, for ease of use. Besides being a pain to lean down for a drink, I run with the soft lowers on my guards a lot, no way am I giving that up to get a drink holder on there. If it's looks you're worried about, or want insulation ability, check out the Roadrunner: http://www.leadermotorcycle.com/CTGY/drink.html Nice looks and US manufactured.

There's a drink holder that mounts to the rear crash bar. In front of the bag.

i've never had one of those 'cause everyone i've known who had one took it off due to drink getting warm from engine heat...

FWIW, I use a bottle like this. It keeps drinks very cold. It's wide mouth so I can throw some ice in there if I want..... The top flips open and I can take a drink one handed.

Even if I don't drink while I am riding, it's nice having it right there when we stop to stretch our legs......

Ever ridden w someone that opens up their saddle bag and discovers that their drink has leaked all over their gear???? Doesn't happen w a bar mounted drink holder. And I hate having to guzzle down something just because it's time to get back on the road.....
