If you want leather , I'd highly recommend Fox Creek, great quality , lifetime guarantee , US made and great service. I have a leather HD coat that gave op the ghost after 3 years .
I have the FXRG and wouldn't trade it. To me a jacket is like buying a car- what do you want it to do and how many options do you want. The FXRG is great quality and has all the options. Don't need or want all the options than you can find less expensivejackets elsewhere, including less expensive HD jackets. Want the same options as FXRG but not an HD jacket and price, now it gets interesting finding something out there to compare it with option for option in other brands.
A traditional bike jacket (Marlon Brando style) is made by HD for between 350 and 400......You can get the same style....and weight jacket from leatherup.com for under 100. Make sure that you order the "top grade" one. It really is a great bargain. Got one myself.

I agree 100%. I have a traditonal biker jacket that I bought from J.C. Whitney for 88 bucks fifteen years ago. It's a Pakistani made steer hide jacket. It's seen ten's of thousands of miles in all kinds of weather and one nice hard wreck. It's still in good shape. The cows and thread in Pakistani are just as tough as they are in America.
If you don't want a traditonal jacket, you can get other styles for 100-150 bucks as well for places like Leather Up or swapmeets that will work just fine. I "retired" the aforemention jacket about 5 years ago and bought a new foreign made on with of a different style with a different zip out liner. I paid 100 bucks for it. It has seen a lot of miles over the past 5 years and still looks good.
I wear a Schott jacket. http://www.schottnyc.com/motorcycle-...cle-jacket.htm
It is not full of armor, and is not vented either, but when it gets hot i have other jackets to wear. I always ask myself how much will I use it. I used to wear this one all day everyday for many years. Excellent quality.
Me too. Bought mine 30 years ago and it's still going strong. Just slick it up with neatsfoot oil now and then, buff it up and it looks almost new. Last year I needed to get a jacket for hot weather. Got a Joe Rocket mesh jacket. Mesh is the best thing to happen to bike clothes in decades.
