I posted a couple of weeks ago that I had the 'bug' to buy a Street Glide and do some custom work. You guys were great in helping me decide to buy a stock bike, and shop around to really make it my own.
I came across a good deal (HD Dealer) on a 2012, recently traded in (3K mi), with a couple of mods done (V&H pipes, HD big sucker breather). I was pleased w the purchase, so now shopping other stuff.
Started looking at wheels. I thought I wanted to go with a 21" on the front, but after seeing some bikes and web-sites, I'm curious about the 23". I've heard the 21 is fine with the stock setup, but a 23 would need to be "raked", or "cut" (I've heard both terms).
Your opinions on the ride, handling, occasional 2-up rides, costs, complexity of the job, etc would be appreciated.
And yes, when I figure out how to upload pics, I will.......right now, just a Red, stock, SG. Seen a million of 'em.
Talked with a guy in Sturgis who had a 26 and airride on a road glide. He had 24000 miles on the bike as it sat. He claims he rode it from Coast to Coast and it handled great. He was raked. I would imagine a rake is better for a 23 if you can afford it. You may have to change the suspension to air ride. My .02.
It is not necessary to rake the front end for a 23" wheel. We have one on our shop street glide. If you want more info on how we did it contact us and we can explain. We have plenty of really nice wheel options in stock in 21 and 23 as well should you decide to pull the trigger. Here is a link to our bagger gallery with tons of great looking baggers. http://hogpro.com/showpage.php?page=gallery2.htm
Went on a poker run over the weekend, and there were no less than 12 SG's and RG's with 26" front wheels...made the 21's look tiny...building a touring bike as we speak...can't make up my mine..they looked pretty cool.

thanks for the link to your website. very cool. I'm sure I'll be calling in the next few days.
One of my riding buddies bought an '09 SG, dressed it up including 21' on the front (done @ HD dealer). The bike never rode right. I never rode it, but several of the guys did. At 70 mph, they all said "scary". Supposedly, the back end "fishtailed / "wobbled". Dealer could never solve it, so he traded it for a RG. The dealer had a hard time reselling the bike because of the ride.
I've never heard of this on any other bike, but, this is why I'm being cautious.
