Hello everyone...As a result of hardcore softball headfirst most excellent slide ever....I have to go under the knife.... I tore my labrum, smashed my humerus, and collar bone broken. Needless to say riding with my 16" apes is the most uncomfortable and down right excruciating thing ive done in awhile. However being optimistic im already looking forward to next riding season. Anybody on here come back to riding after a surgery similar to this? If so what helped you get back out there on the road with as little pain as possible? Thanks in advance
Not exactly that...Torn rotator & bicep. It was easy after I got up to speed riding with just my right arm. What you describe, best of luck. I can't imagine the 16" apes are gonna be real comfortable. Good luck.
Not that specifically, but I've come back from a bunch of different injuries. Most recently, two months ago I totally ruptured my distal biceps tendon, and had to have it surgically reattached to my forearm. I was back on the bike in about 5 weeks.
Most important thing is to follow the surgeons instructions and give 100% effort to your p/t. Good luck!
I'm likely getting a right knee replacement next year. Dreading the time off the bike, but thinking I'll be back on it sooner than if it was my left knee.

I'm scheduled for a Dec. 2nd surgery for exactly the same issues and damaged
parts. I fell over a trailer tongue at Sturgis the day before we left. It was a miserable ride home to say the least. I have continued to ride every day and have adjusted my riding to get by, but no way with apes with my injury! I will be riding as soon as I can ride safely and not redamage the repaired areas.
After having an IED take off almost half of my left shoulder and several reconstructive surgeries later I am able to ride all day but I can't do it with Apes. Doctors say I have about 95% use of my shoulder and arm. I can do most normal things even heavy lifting but to ride with my arms elevated any more them the stock bars on my Lo I have mucho pain after about 20-30 min. Even the height of the steering wheel in the car bothers me on long drives. That said I hope all goes well with your surgery and you will be riding soon.

Good luck with the surgery & recovery. I myself, like above, have torn rotator & bicep on right side. Surgery scheduled December 17th. Still riding till then. Hoorah. Rangers Lead the Way.
Had shoulder surgery last February. Not as extensive as yours, but they had to reattach a tendon, clean out bone spurs and I had really bad inflammation. I had gone through physical therapy, 3x week for a month, as well as doing PT recommended stretching at home. After about 2 /12 months I was able to ride, no problem.
