I own a 07' softtail custom and I put on 4 inch risers whithout changing cable lengths ( what my H-D dealer told me), which worked, the only small problem was that the oil line was stretched to the limit. I have a friend that wants to put small ape hangers on her 09' 883 and was told by dealer she needed $550 of new longer cables! Is this true or can we get by with out the cables?? Any help would be a big help, wanted to buy her the apes for X-mas but don't want her to turn around and spend all that $$$!
Check with ur local HD dealer i did and the hooked me up with a local guy they use who made up the clutch cable brake line idle and throttle cables for about $250 and its all braided stainless and came with wire extensions
I don't own very new bikes, but usually there are two wire bundles, one through each side of the bars, a throttle cable set, and the clutch cable. Here's what to do:
- Use the same clutch cable, re-routing it if necessary to keep it long enough. If not, buy a new one on Ebay.
- Same thing for the throttle cable(s)
- as for the two wire bundles, cut the tires and splice in extra length. This is easier than one may think. You'll have to take apart the wire plug at the end, but with some fiddling you'll figure out how to do this.
I have a 2012 Streetglide and I just bought 10" mini apes. Has anyone installed them before and if so do you know where I can find instructions or a tuturiol?
