It has been 12 years seen I rode (a Honda), but I bought my 1st H/D a 2007 Strret Bob on 1/13/2007. Within less than a month and fewer than 500 miles on my new bike I have found the H/D Money Pit:
Leather jacket $ 425
Helmet w/shield 169
Boots 85
Glasses 22
Chrome stuff203
Service manual 58
Motor cycle jack 150
Frame extensions 22
Motor oil 4+
Insurance218
and premium gas
I thought owning a ski boat was a money pit. I'm NOT complaning, I just neede time away fro the "Big" H/D wish book, everytime I look at it I see something I want.
I was getting the jacket, I don't care what the price tag was. I had to have it, (it does make me look thinner). I may have to re-think the motor oil for $ 4.50 a quart, but it does have "Genuine Harley-Davidson Oil" on the bottle.
My bet is that for those of you who have been this "Harley World" longerthan me (20 days), your money pit is deeper than mine.
See Ya' on the road, I'll be that thin looking, older guy with a simle on his face (I love that jacket).
PS: I found this web site a few days ago and have gotten some good advice, thanks. For the most part it looks as if members here are open and helpful.
Light weight, I spent more than that on the first day...LOL!

I'm new here as well. Welcome to the boards. According to your list above, you've only scratched the surface of possibilities and wants. And there will always be possibilities and wants. Make no mistake about that. This site will give you lots of ideas on modifications, add-ons, and customization. Many of these guys have some seriously sweet rides. I find myself jotting down ideas and making additions to my own wish list each and every time I log on. Good luck, have fun, and ride safe.
You anna try living on this side of the pond(UK) HD stuff if generally twice the price - like $950 for a detachable sissy bar set up. Thats a lot of nights in a hotel rather than carrying a tent.
