Default New look

Hi people, I put my bike away for the winter a few weeks ago, at the dealership where I purchased it, with the caveat, of them swapping out the stock handlebars of my 2007 Softail Deluxe, with new ones; four and a half inch risers, connected to one and three quarter inch thick, twelve inch mini ape handlebars. Man is that ever gonna look nice. Of course to do something like this, is not cheap though; because they have to completely redo the wiring, this lil adventure is costing me around $1,956.00. But that also includes them installing a new back tire and, fixing a broken wire connected to my front fender lamp. Ouch! But, it will be well worth the money come spring, let me tell you!

Bars ain't cheap to have installed. Couple years ago I asked how much to throw a set on my bike (I'm too old and lazy anymore) and was told that it would be around $900.00 plus the cost of the bars and risers. I'm still using the stock bars.

I've done a few bar swaps as well as rear tire changes and I'm going to tell you that's way overpriced. No way the labor for a bar swap should be more than $500, especially on a non-touring bike. Even if you buy some expensive bars you are looking at maybe $500 for parts. Rear tire change should be in the $300-400 range and that's on the high side. From my figures, you should have been able to get it done for around $500 less than what you are paying.

No doubt I would do that bar swap myself... that's a lot of coin. And believe me, if I can do a bar swap...ANYONE can. Swapped mine out over the summer and with the help on this forum, it was pretty easy overall.
