HD case material
I discovered a crack in my transmission case on one of the lobes that holds the rod that holds the shifter forks. I need to weld it up. Can anyone tell me what type of cast aluminium the case is made of and what type of filler rod should be used. My welder at work needs to know.

Your welder probably knows this but it is very important to get the area to be welded as clean as possible (especially with cast)..
It also helps to pre heat the part to be welded with a torch... Use 4043 filler for cast aluminum..
