Default So what exactly qualifies as an "essential" add on for a bike?

This post is in response to reading about the bikes people buy and the stuff they IMMEDIATELY have put on. Alot of the stuff seems to repeat itself over and over again. Since I have never, or will ever, actually buy a new bike off a showroom floor, that lead me to wondering, what's an essential piece of gear?

Things that spring to my mind (not counting anything that isn't actually a PART on the bike like helmets and jackets and tools)

Exhaust and seat seem to be common, anyone else wanna share?

Shiney stuff, and after 500-1000 miles, new pipes and air cleaner.

Ride it like it is, and have fun doing it.

I think the basic set up would be A/C, Muffler and a tune.
Everything else is gravey!

Anything that you can't personally live without. Usually different for all of us, after pipes and seat which are always a must for me, I put my highway pegs on the crash bar so I can stretch out. Also a mount for my mp3 player so I don't have to listen to the same cd over and over.
