Could someone please tell me how often or how many miles the motor oil should be changed.

It depends on what kind of driving you do. If you only ride five hundred miles a year then you need to change it once a year. If you ride ten thousand miles a year then you should change it every five thousand miles. Most Harley dealers want you to change it every service check and that is every 2500 miles since they are already doing so much work. Change filter every oil change.
