Got a red craftsman jack when I repoed my son's bike. I used it last week for the first time to put the chains on the lawn tractor for the snow blower. It lifted ok, but leaked down. I'm glad I found this out with the lawn mower and not the bike!!! When I lift the bike I will use the lock and not rely on the bottle jack to keep it up.
Im an American and I ride a American made Harley Davidson motorcycle.I buy American.
But when it comes time to work on my America made motorcycle i'll only buy the best and get myself a red craftsman jack.Proudly made by communist red Chinese workers.....

I wonder if I am a risk taker or just a cheap bastard? Red one works good for me (so far). I would certainly lock it if it was gonna stay on the jack any length of time, not rely on the pump.
yeh I got the cheap pep boy one also and LOVE it
works great don't care who or where it is made works great nad has for about 3 years now still going strong..59$ pepboy
I ordered myAmerican made J&S today, $360 shipped. Much higher than I wanted to pay. By most accounts the Sears made is China Yellow oneis a great buy and good quality but I usually find whenever I go for the least expensive of two options I usually regret the decision.
So when in doubt I generally go for what cost more. Most of the time price seems to be a good indicator of quality. HD is a good example.
If you do find a replacement bottle jack for the Sears red....PLEASE let US ALL know....because that is the weakest point on the jack and where I have found 99% of them fail.
Wow, I didn't realize anyone was keeping global statistics on the failure points of all of the Sears Red jacks ever sold. But, you must be right? Otherwise, where would you get the data from to come and post such an exact and accurate figure? What's the percentage on the yellow jack?
I think he ment out of the 100% that fail...it's the bottle that goes.
I can agree with that...but I'm not keeping global statistics on failure points either. Ever heard of one break anywhere else?
