Default RT Zumo 660 audio

I've got the 660 on a handlebar mount of my 07 Ultra and want to run the audio of the 660 thru the sound system of the scooter. Works fine with the audio cable running from the audio out jack on the gps to the aux input on the scooter.

If you're familiar with the RT 660 handblebar mounting kit, you'll know that the cable attached to the handlebar mount has 3 female plugs dangling off of the end of it, one a mini-USB plug, one for audio out, and one for microphone in. Thinking I would do away with the cable running from the gps audio out to the aux in, I ran an audio cable from the audio out plug at the end of the mounting cable (under the seat) under the tank and up to the aux in plug. However, I get no audio from the gps into the sound system. The audio only comes out of the speaker on the back of the gps despite the sound system being set to play from aux.

I'm now wondering if that audio out cable on the mounting cable, along with the microphone in plug, is only to tie a headset to the gps for telephone connection by Bluetooth. God knows the instructions with the mounting kit or the gps don't give any help in that regard. Comments?
