I know you're not asking specifically about quiet baffles but I recently replaced the stock baffles in my Vance and Hines BSS with Big City Thunder Quality Quiet baffles. The seat of the pants dyno said I got back a lot of the back pressure and torque that I lost when I went from Vance and Hines Quiet baffles to the stock baffles. From people that have had both BCT's and BCT QQ's most only report a difference in volume. The loudest would be the BCT's then stock baffles then BCT QQ's with the vance and hines quiet baffles being the quietest. The BCT QQ's are actually fairly loud closer to stock really but with a better sound. To me anyways.

I swapped out the stock baffles in my v&h straight shots staggered for the bct's on my '93 fxdwg and I lost power and picked up a bunch of hesitation and the sound wasn't all that great.so the stock baffles went back in and the bct's went to the bottom of my tool box with the rest of the parts that don't work.

I was told that in order to restore lost back pressure from using slip-on mufflers (such as Rush or Rinehart), I should use Big City Thunder QQ baffles with the baffles that come with slip-ons.

I was instructed, by Jim at Big City, to keep the Rush/Rinehart slip-on baffles the way they are, and install the BCT QQ baffle at the exit/end of the head pipe.

Any thoughts on using BCT baffles in conjunction with the baffles that come with slip-ons?

Thanks

I too spoke to Jim, great guy he has no problem taking the time to talk to customers....rare these days. I went the same route on my 2000 Wide Glide TC 88. I've got the baffles that came with the SE slip ons with the Big City Thunder head pipe baffles. I have the evolution screamin eagle slip ons, stock head pipes...QQ Thunder Monster Baffles for pipes with an inside diameter of 1 5/8" and outside diameter of 1 3/4"(QBL 1625) These screamin eagle slip ons have diverter stlye baffles in them...not the straight thru perforated baffle core that require periodic repacking. These are the track only slip ons and are quite loud. I was hoping for more noise reduction but it did knock the volume down some....still has the bark. I ended up with more performance gain than noise reduction...especially after the HSR 42 went on.

These can be tricky to mount. On mine the perforated cone has to protrude out of the head pipe into the slip on muffler...which puts the button head mounting screw right underneath the muffler clamps. I didn't want them too deep into the head pipe because I wanted the cross over pipe on the stock head pipes to flow/function properly. The pics show how I bored holes into the muffler clamps and mufflers so the clamps fit properly, I can check and/or tighten the bolts with easy access too. Just takes some trial fitting a careful marking of the head pipes, muffler, QQ baffle cores and clamps with a sharpie before drilling. You want to be sure the mufflers are positioned just right. I wanted the muffler clamps positioned so the bolts were not visible, and the baffle mounting screw was at 6 O clock.
