My wife has been on me to get a DOT helmet instead of the novelty helmet that I've been wearing, OK fine, she bought me a helmet from leather up with a built in visor, kool, well after about two months the visor broke, and the helmet has too much lift at 60+, I looking for a DOT smaller helmet that will keep the wifey happy, and won't make me look like a ***** head, suggestions please
Helmets are like shoes. Unless you try them on for fit and looks, you can't tell. We can suggest helmets out the yin-yang but you won't know whether it fits well.
Go to a store and try on helmets you like. When you find one that works for YOU, search online for the best deal. To buy one sight unseen, well that's why you posted this... isn't it. You get the point even though your wife bought the helmet.
Outlaw Ultra Slim Low Profile (when you can get them from LeatherUp - (they come and go). I bought two half helms and love them. Almost no wind lift.
You won't find a smaller half helm that's (technically) DOT. Check out the difference:
Is that one that is on the recall list/doesn't really pass dot or some newer version that passes dot?
I don't know what the op is "really" looking for he said he wants a dot helmet.
I guess i don't get buying a helmet that really isn't dot and looks somewhere in the middle between dot & novelty.
You can buy dot stickers on ebay for a couple bux and slap them on a true novelty helmet and have a better "looking" helmet if it's strictly to pacify the wife / try to get over on a law.
Not trying to bust ***** here just making sure the op makes an informed decision.
I got no problem with whatever anyone wants to do. I use an old snell / dot ff for the winter. A dot 1/2 and 3/4 for summer. ....
Catch me out away from the city's it's no helmet for me.
