I just don't understand today's bikers...
Todays bikers are for the most part, "just bike owners" Feel free to fill in the brand of your choice.

Do onto others...

Always stop! I'm pretty mechanically inclined. Moved 2 return throttle cables to replace the broken pull cable to get people home. Helped another out of a ditch after the Love Ride a year or two back. What goes around comes around. A great guy trailored my old Springer back to the hotel in Las Vegas when I melted the ignition pickup on the Memorial ride. (10,000 riders, and I was pushing my bike down Las Vegas Bl.

I have stopped on occasion, gave a guy on a Jap scooter a ride to get a battery and back once and I've had people stop for me the couple of times I've needed some help. The last time was a couple of years ago when the clutch on my trusty old '82 Ironhead decided to fry on the way home from a ride. Thankfully I had my cell phone and was able to make a call for the 'ol pickup truck, but of the dozens of cars and bikes that went by, the only one who stopped was a guy and his lady on a bagger. I told them I had already made the call and thanked them. Stopping is a crap shoot, someone could actually need help or be looking to help themselves to what you have. You have to be careful.

Funny story, my neighbor stopped to assist an old woman who was on the side of a local highway with a flat tire. The woman was by herself, so being the gentleman that he was, he got out the spare, jacked up the car and put the spare tire on. Just about this time he looks up and sees the old lady's husband coming out of the woods along the side of the road. SOB was just waiting for him to finish before he came out and got back in his car. This PO'd my neighbor who took it upon himself to jack the car up again and take off the spare and left. Boy was he steamed.

"around here there is a chance they would borrow your ride if theirs was broke down".

TC,

Where you're from, I can understand that concern. Where I'm at, I have a .45 ACP anti crime alarm unit that would discourage that from happening.

Regards,

Bill

Damn Skip,

After a ride like that I could see where you might have traded that puppy for a Honda

Bill, I'm from NY, we have the good and the bad here, some you would stop for and some you wouldn't. We've had situations where a bike was stolen out of a garage that was locked, and although that doesn't sound too bad, it was parked in front of the car that was in there and they literally lifted it over the car to remove it.

LOL, kept it for about 9 years, well over 100k miles, stroker motor, and tons of fun.
