Diagnosed in '04, tried the ABC's of meds and have developed antibodies to all of them. Had a bout over Christmas where one leg and both feet went completely numb and lasted till 1st week of Feb, then slowly started regaining feeling.

Have optic neuritis in left eye (what led to the MRI and diagnosis) but my right has over compensated for the loss. Not blind by any means in the left..just everything is "whited out".

Anyway, I've found that extreme heat (over 80) and extreme cold (less than 20ish) affect my riding d/t the eye, so on those days I take the truck with the A/C. Too cold to ride in that temp anway

So far nothing debilitating has "stayed" for long...so far so good!

Hit me with any questions or concerns.

**Edit**

Just saw your post regarding the MRI. I don't want to be "that" guy, but go for a spinal tap. The MRI will only show lesions if the MS is advancing or active. If you have optic neuritis you run a what, 90%, chance of having MS, they just can't see it yet.

Find out brother, find out now and start treatment BEFORE it begins multiplying.

My 2 cents.

Greg

When my wife had had theOptical Neuritis it was in her left eye – she could look at a picture & see the frame but nothing inside the frame – it lasted about 3 months then one morning she wakes up & everything was hooked back up & she could see again – This was about 15 years ago – She is 67 today and has 20/20 vision.

Thanks everybody. They are still referring me to a Neurological Specialist. She specializes in MS and the cause of optical disorders. I'm staying on top of this one Brother! It is also a wake call for me to slow down, destress, get more sleep and start working out again not necessarily in that order. Looking back I believe my downhill health spiral started about the same time that my oldest son passed away! Greg and I worked out together and compared notes about 3 times a week. I really miss my time with him! Everyone told me but I was too stubborn and hard headed to listen! Thanks Again folks...If any of you decide to make a road trip to Vermont, please give me a heads up! I'd love to feed ya, and meet you in person! Rick

I had the same problem in 2005. Lost sight in left eye. MRI showed no MS. I was 50 at the time. Now my optometrist says that I have 20/300 in left eye, better than 400 and not as good as 200 but they don't use 300..see shapes, light and it seems to improve every year....I had been without a scoot for about 29 years due to kids and family and didn't buy my UC until 2010. Don't have a problem with driving a scoot. Parking a car or truck is sometimes a problem due to the depth perception being gone but not that big a problem on a bike. I just drive a lot more careful now a days.....and it means I won't have to spend money on a 3D TV .......
