Default HD Financing

How many have used the HD Financing; what's their rates and what down payments do they require?
Just wondering, as I'm sure other folks may be too; like most folks, I'd like to explore a bit, save some principle capital, and build credit up a bit.
Thanks folks

Depends on your credit. They usually want 20% down

I did. With my credit, I got 6.2% with a good down payment. And I took the maximum months to pay it off. I was trying to get my payments as small as I could.

That's basically the rate I got 2 years ago. I refinanced with a local credit union a year later at 2.9%. I could pay it off, but at that rate, it's like free money. I would rather hang on to mine. I do make extra payments just to shorten the term and knock the interest money down a little.

Alot of it depends on where you live...HD vs banks/credit unions. In texas, the banks and credit unions don't like financing more then 48 months...I wanted the lowest payment, so the longest financing at the lowest rate. HD financing beat everybody else in my senerio. I do have a very high credit score so they gave me rates lower then their specials they were advetising. I was able to get a new bike earleir then I would have and have since paid it off, so it worked out for me

I just bought a new Fatboy Lo yesterday. I have excellent credit and the best HD credit (Eaglemark) could do was 5.9%. I could get 2.9% at my local credit union but went with another local bank through the dealer for 3.9% for 60 months, just cause it was easier and quicker. I don't plan on taking close to 60 months to pay it off so the differnece in actual cost will be minimal.

2 years ago I got approved through Eaglemark with 20% down and a 4.99 rate for 60 months. My credit score was 730. I just traded that bike and went with a local bank for 0 down (I did put my trade equity down on the new bike.) and a rate of 2.99 for 60 months. I try to pay 50-100 more each month, but I like having a buffer if something comes up so I did 60 months. My current credit score is about 770.

I think my local dealer was offering rates as low as 2.9% recently. I always pay cash for my bikes so it didn't matter to me either way.

As others have said, in one form or another, shop around. The dealer should be able to get you offers from local lenders (if they're not lazy) in addition to HD financing. When I bought mine, the local guys beat HD by quite a bit. If the finance guy won't shop for you, make any offer to buy contingent upon you finding financing acceptable to YOU. That should cause the sales manager to get the finance person off their duff and find you good rates if they want the sale. Good luck....hope it works out well for you.

When I bought my Roadglide last year I got preapproved from my credit union before I went to get the bike, their initial guess on the Interest rate was 8%.. I went to the dealer and picked out my bike and the dealer said he could get a better rate through HD financial so I let him run my credit.. the rate from HD was 24.99% so I went with my credit union and my actual rate ended up being 4.99%... bottom line check around..
