I have been on runs where someone just carries the bag of cards from place to place. At the beginning of the run, they give out maps and print outs and then you draw from the bag at each stop, you give them the card back and they mark the card you draw on your print-out. At the end of the run, they choose the high/low hand, etc.. off of the print-outs.
As stated earlier, be VERY CAREFUL who you ride next to or close to. There are always some drunken idiots (it's a poker run after all, with usually five stops at bars), and some fools always insist on ruining it for everyone else! Ride with your own group (or boyfriend) who you know/trust to ride with. If you can avoid the above potential problems, you can have a great time. Personally I don't do them anymore. If it's a good cause I'll donate my money and maybe meet them at the end, but I don't enjoy riding with idiots anymore, seen too many bad things happen, even on police escorted benefit runs.
They sound like a lot of fun and a good way to hook up with other riders near you. I have to wonder, is drinking part of the game to the degree that you will be ridiculed if you chose to not drink at all? I am a recently a new Harley rider and lovin it!

I drink PLENTY. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against drinking. I just don't drink and drive (anything). Been there done that and was lucky enough to not kill anyone. I have never been on a poker run and had people give me a hard time about not drinking. And if they did I wouldn't give a **** anyway, or I'd just leave and go my own way. I'm not saying that poker runs are about peer pressure, just giving a word of caution to watch out for the other impaired riders/drivers. I don't think you'll ever run into peer pressure in that situation.
Thanks for the response Jeff. I aint against drinkin either, I just feel like having a clear head and good focus when on any number of wheels but particularly on 2 wheels.

I've never done one but sounds like it would be a good time going with a smaller group of your own riders. Definitely a good cause and well wishes to the FF.

Sounds like we're on the same page then! So, by all means, go on the Poker Run, have a good time, meet new people and make friends, but just be ware of other riders/drivers who have lost their wits!
