I have been to poker rides with horses but never on my bike. Can anyone tell me how these work. This is one going on next weekend for a fire fighter that got burnt up n a fire and wanting to do it for a good cause
You normally get a route to several checkpoints. At each checkpoint you draw a card which is marked on you entry card. When you get to the end of the poker run prizes are awarded for best hand and sometimes worst hand and whatever else they come up with.
I haven't been on a lot of them but normally whoever wins usually will donate the winnings to whatever the cause is but not always.
They usually have a party at the end with door prizes, raffles and such. It can be a good time if you are a social type of person.
Yep pretty much as IA stated. I won worst hand once, didnt realize it till they were giving out prizes had A2347. won 140 bucks, kept half, gave half back to the cause.....

usually there is a registration period say 10-12.... leave at your own pace.... Last bike in by say 5..... This allows everyone to go at their own pace. Just pay attention at the stops. People will most likely be drinking and there is always that one guy who gets hammered early..... avoid him at all cost. They are a good time, go out and and enjoy yourself for a good cause. Whats the worst that happens you meet some new people to ride with
