Nice bike B. Id be proud to take a trip on that. People get a bit touchy when talking about their baby. I think this was a good post if everybody understand people have opinions. If I were rich Id have several flavors of Hog. Some of the best people on this forum have posted on this one without getting too bent. No Dorks just coolness.

If you really want to know about CVOs look no farther than this forum (click just below Touring).

But like I said earlier, someone with your experience in bikes probably knows a little more than he's letting on. It's all good.

Honestly I have avoided twinkie's completely , aside from a few short rides I've not layed a hand on one . Evo's ok I've got the skills and all the aftermarket big inch chopper motors are evo design based and I've been neck deep in those over the years . Actually kicking around picking up a beater FXR needing some love for a commute bike the old shovel has grown past being my daily , that big *** motor can be a handful some days she's real hard on starters & batteries .

I've had everything from pans through twin cams and each bike was better than the last. The amount of time I have had to spend keeping each bike in good running order has decreased with each engine change I've had. As far as the CVO's go, they seem like a whole lot of money for basically a loaded bike with a good paint job. I'd rather get a "standard" version, add what I want and save myself several K in the process. For the most part, I think they are pretty nice bikes, but you are paying a arm and a leg to get what isn't really all THAT special in my opinion. Lastly, I really don't know why you are so hung up on shovels. The evo is a really nice motor and you might even like a twin cam if you opened up your mind a little. You even admitted your shovel is hard on batteries (like ALL shovels) and starters. As I said, I honestly have had to do less and less to keep the bikes I've had running well as I moved from pan to shovel, to evo to twin cam. Each is more complicated, but they are also more reliable. Could you honestly go coast to coast on your bike without doing any work along the way? I think most twin cam owners could without a problem.

As if Evos are problem free? Not to mention efficiency, vibration. leaks?, no alarm system, etc. I prefer my mpg, 6speed, plenty of power with stock heads/cam, aftermarket, part availability, etc.

As far as CVOs, nothing wrong with the labor and warranty already in place, exclusivity, etc. Guys could easily buy LS3 Vettes and modify them to Z1 levels, Porsche 911s to TT levels, etc. But then you just have a modified, out of warranty car with a resale value loss and less of a buyer pool.

Honestly. I never understand the resale thing. I'm not one to think about how what im doing to a bike will affect resale. By the time in ready to sell one its been pretty wore out. I think I will keep this one around till the only original thing is the frame and cases.
