I ordered one of the matte AK-88's yesterday. When it comes in I'll let you know how it is.

Default Akoury Helmet review

Got mine a few months ago and have ridden with it both on long highway runs and around town. Lowest profile helmet by far that I've ever seen or owned. My only complaint is the fastener isn't easily released and isn't the same latch every one see's on the you tube video that's easily adjusted. Overall best beanie helmet I have ever owned would buy it again.

Great helmet. I own the AK-88 and also the Terminator model. Very comfortable, doesn't lift at speed; your head fits within the helmet as opposed to be perched on top. Really feels like you are wearing nothing at all.

Even though its DOT, not sure how well it would protect the noggin in a serious crash, but if you are in the market for a low profile beanie you're probably not too concerned about that anyway.

My AK 88 came today. I consider that pretty quick since I ordered it on Thursday and it comes via regular mail from Canada. I originally planned on ordering a medium which is the size I have for my other 3 helmets, but after reading different reviews I convinced myself that a small was probably better. I called the company within an hour of ordering and sent the email as they requested. The email I got back was it had already shipped. They obviously don't screw around so I was told that if it didn't fit ship it back and they would reimburse me the shipping both ways.
When it arrived today I could see that it was definitely smaller than my outlaw t-70. In fact the footprint of the akoury fits inside the footprint of the outlaw. To me it still seems like it causes a bit of a mushroom look, but definitely not as much as the outlaw. It was probably for the best that it shipped as a medium because it fits like my others do. I think a small would have been too small. It came with the quick release system which is great and very easy to use. It also fits lower on my head which I can see and feel. Over all it is very comfortable and it didn't feel like I was getting any lift until I hit 75. Prior to that it felt great. The side by side comparison says it all for how much smaller it is and at this point it is definitely going to be my preferred helmet of choice.

Was yours matte black or gloss black? I have noticed that the people that get the matte blacks are all getting the quick release ratchet like in the YouTube clip (mine did also). But those that say the got gloss black have said they didn't. Just curious which one you have.

OP, search for "akoury ak88 helmet" thread. I along with a bunch of others have compared this one to other helmets. Should answer other questions you may have.

I'm completely sold on this thing. I didn't experience any movement on the interstate running 80. Fit is perfect. Definitely sits lower on your head and the ratchet quick release is the best helmet clip I have ever used.

I'm glad it came with that clip, because that was one of the big points I really liked about it when I ordered it.

Yeah no doubt. I was actually worried when I ordered because everyone was saying they weren't getting it with theirs. My wife likes it because it can be clipped with gloves on. I'm gonna have to find a couple to put on her helmets. She hates the plastic and metal clasp that I bought for hers.

I ordered my helmet 15 days ago and it was only sent out today. I sent emails asking when it was sent. First I was told last week then I was told yesterday and when I finally said I would contact paypal he sent over a tracking number and it sent out today. This is horrible customer service. Not to mention I had to buy another helmet today because that was the reason I ordered one in the first place. However since the ball was dropped and I got to many stories the helmet wont be here for another 4-10 business days which means next week. So that is 3 weeks after I ordered it. That is not good business practices
