Well, just got back from a couple of weeks in the Ozarks; absolutely gotta be the best motorcycling anywhere and I've done central Italy, both coasts of Canada and the US as well as the little rides like road to the sun, tail of the dragon, Cabot trail, 3A north of Creston etc etc...
Friendly people, next to NO traffic, smooth roads; did I mention next to NO traffic? If anyone knows of better riding in North America, I'm there next...but so far the Ozarks are absolutely the best all round motorcycle riding I've done; just pick up a Butler map and ride. Thanks to all we encountered for their hospitality.
I grew up in the Ozarks, I really miss it. Great roads and hills, twists and turns as well as good people. Now I'm in south Louisiana dodging pot holes and gators. It's some nice rides around the swamps and great people, oh and the food is out of this world. Maybe for a change of venue take a ride through south Louisiana. There's always a festival going on somewhere in this state.
Glad you enjoyed the area and the people. A ride around the block for me seems to always go 100+ miles. Love to go into Arkansas, The Pig Trail and Eureka Springs area have great roads and beautiful scenery....
Spent some time in the Ozarks last Summer/August and can confirm GREAT riding East to West along/parallel to/ziz-zag-intersecting Rt 160 to Rt 76... Roads were well made/corners properly banked, no frost heaves/cracks/pot-holes, excellent bridges/culverts/drainage, low/no traffic, good visibility/trimming/grooming without impacting the bountiful natural scenery... I was smiling/laughing all the way (except during their late-day over-developed/tornado-prone thunderstorms that had some of the heaviest rain, strongest gust-fronts and largest hail)... Had been XC several times to the North/South but this time I made sure to see more of Missouri/Arkansas... It was certainly a highlight/pleasant surprise... I would go back in a heartbeat...
Another well kept secret is the large rural tri-corner-area of TN/GA/AL...

Heck with Deal's Gap, the snake, and all those congested poser roads. I concur, lots of nice roads in the Ozarks w/o much traffic. Although it's not, the road pictured it reminds me of roads in the Ozarks.
The little roads in southwest VA, east TN, and eastern Kentucky aren't talked about a lot but are very similar. Maybe a bit tighter and steeper. I just came back from riding that area along with south west WV on little roads that wind all over. Very little traffic for the most part. Here in Kentucky behind a truck on a straighter stretch I was able to pull my camera out and take a picture while following my friend before he passed there at the bottom of the hill.
