Seger's "Turn the Page" - Ever feel like this sometimes?
From the moment we walked into the restaurant (both of us clad in our leather jackets, jeans, boots, gloves, et al), the patrons in the restaurant almost - as if in unison - stopped what they were doing and took a long stare at the two of us. Noticing this, I make it a point to scan the room checking folks out. It was weird, as i checked out the room, each and every one of them were giving us a stare down; as if they've never seen folks clad in bike gear before? Sure enough, as we were led to our table, all eyes followed us in turn. Sure, we'd get the usual 'head nod' to as if to say, 'How's it going?'. But for the most part, it was like being a stranger in a strange land. Has this ever happend to you folks?
As to the Bob Seger reference? Well, it reminded me of a verse from 'Turn the Page':
"Well you walk into a restaurant, strung out from the road,
You can feel the eyes upon you as your shaking off the cold
You pretend it doesnt bother you, but you just want to explode.
Most times you cant hear em talk, other times you can.
Oh the same old cliche, as that woman on her a man
You always seem outnumbered, you dont dare make a stand.
Here I am, on the road again. there I am, up on the stage."
That story makes me want to get a group of riders and go have lunch.
What was the name of the place.
Many times. And they want to know why we have an attitude.
