Should I trade in my current bike or try to sell it privately? Are bikes like cars and you get hosed on the trade in? I think I could reasonably get $6500 for my bike to a private seller.
I would think bikes are the same as any vehicle--you will likely get more for your ride if you sell it yourself. But that isn't always easy and it probably won't be quick.
As far as value, I would have no idea. Did you try looking up the blue book value?
I would try to sell it privately if you can, typically they won't give you crap for your bike on a trade-in. Kinda depends on how quickly you need to sell it.

The stealeship offered me 3600 for my 09 Honda 750 Spirit. I purchased my HD without trading it, put it on Craigslist and sold it about 6 weeks later for 4800. So it just depends on your situation.....
