I'm looking for a new pair of riding boots and like the Bates line. The Bates Ormond seems to be along the line I'm thinking but the one review I can find says they fit like crap and hurt the feet. That's only one opinion. Has anyone tried this model boot and what did you think?
I am not familiar with the model boot your talking about but I have had two pair of this style. One with Gore-Tex lining and one without. They were both comfortable and I wore them every day for work and for riding. http://www.batesfootwear.com/US/en-U...t?dimensions=0
I have had several pairs of Bates Ultra Lites. The first pair lasted several years so when i needed replacement I went the same. The second pair lasted 4 months before the bottom came apart. So third pair and it only lasted about 6 months before falling apart. No more Bates for me. Others at work had the same thing happen with their new boots. The old boots are still holding up but are slick bottoms, worn through and look like the dog been chewing on them.
I have the Bates Ormond boots. Whatever you read isn't true for me. LOVE them!!! I've had them for 2 years now. Very comfortable (and I wear them almost every day), durable and a great looking boot. I also have a pair of Chippewa Rally Boots, and I like the Bates better.
Mine are still in great shape but I'm buying another pair in case they stop making them.
Bates are really hit or miss in my experience. I owned a pair of patrol boots by them that lasted quite a long time. Unfortunately, another pair of boots I had from them were horrible, fell apart within 6 months.
I stay away from them.
