Default Minibeast Horn Questions--WTF?

I know I an call Pro Pad on Monday and get their answers, but it's Saturday and I'm hoping to hear from forum members with Minibeast horn experience.

Using websites like Amazon's Minibeast 2 for installation and review information left me with a few questions before I buy one.

(1) What's the difference between Minibeast 1, 2, 3, and 4? Obviously 1 and 2 have a different shape, but what else? 3 and 4 look identical and have the same descriptions on the ProPad website...WTF?

(2) Some reviewers say the install was plug and play like the ProPad video shows, but others talk about routing a wire under the tank to the battery...again...WTF?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Changing from a single horn to a dual horn ( or upgrading to a bigger horn )places an extra load on the OE wiring. It's "possible" that the OE wiring will not handle the additional load. Being an electrician, I am very familiar with this situation. And I would have to recommend installing the new wire and relay. Then connect the OE wire to the relay instead of the horn.

Thanks. Will do if needed, but some reviewers report that the relay is wired under the chrome housing already, and the plug/play connection installs the relay by default. I'm hoping this is the case, but not sure with the inconsistent reviews. Either way I can install, but just wanted to know before ordering.

Ya but you "may" still need to run the additional wire from the relay to the battery.

I recently installed a MB1 on my '07 FLSTN. Removed old horn, unplugged the connector, plugged connector to MB, mounted MB -- that's it, no additional wiring. Took about 10 minutes.

Earlier versions of the MB did require a seperate wire to the battery. I installed one like that on my '05 Deluxe. Current version does not call for anything beyond unplug/plug.

I have the MB2. I removed the old horn, plugged in the MB2 wire harness, attached the MB to the bike, and did have to run the wire up and under the tank and to the battery terminal. It was very easy although I did have to open the owners manual to see how to remove the items from the top of the battery to get to the terminal. But it's really very easy to install. All my other Harley's did not have the battery covered.

I just bought one. There are different sizes with the same style cover. That's one difference. Look carefully at descriptions especially the twin cam look ones....one is larger than the other. Bought mine on Amazon for $130 free shipping. Truly plug and play, no extra wires. Wiring handles the load just fine.

Default I have the minibeast that looks like the football

They are plug and play but the extra wire to the battery is for 'instant on' power. That way you can give instant and short burst's. If you just use the regular set up then there is a pause from pushing the horn button to the horn going off. The OEM relay is more than adequate if you wire it up the way they suggest. It's no big deal with the extra wire. Just run it up to the fuel line and then run it straight back to the battery.

I have the pro pad mini beast 2
the extra wire is the Hot wire that is routed to the relay, in the back of the Horn.
The original horn wire goes to one side of the relay, and when you hit the horn button, you are turning on the relay, which connects the battery to the horn.
In my experience, it is way louder with the battery connected to the relay, instead of using the horn wire to power it.

I agree with the others guys here, the extra wire is for the "instant on" feature, which IMO, with a horn, is necessary. It's really easy to run the wire though.

One thing I'm wondering, is why did they discontinue the mini-beast 5???
