I de catted my 2013 RKC a couple weeks ago and thought I was going to like it. I had did it on a previous bike and it was fine. But this time it made my bike sound like crap and also I think it felt like it just ran different when you lugged it down a little in the hills. I found a take off stock headpipe on ebay and put it on, now its back to normal. I think Ill just keep it like this.
If I do change it guess I'll pony up the coin and do a complete stage 1.
But for the most part I'm satisfied with the sound and performance, it just lacks a little in the upper end, as in freeway speed passing.
I de-catted and couldn't be happier with the result. I only did it for the heat that my wife was getting off the cat. The pipe temp dropped 180 degrees. Sound is slightly deeper, no louder, no performance difference. If the heat wasn't there, the cat still would be.
I changed my headpipe for a Fullsac Sportpipe. The sound increase thru my V&H Ovals was huge and obnoxious. I took the Ovals off and put stock cans on........sound real nice now and runs strong. And doesn't sound like I've got a Jake brake anymore.

Decatting the collector tube on an HD will not change the sound or performance of any engine period. Total BS.
The only thing it does is eliminate the amount of heat generated by the cat from it back out the exhaust. By the way no HD has a cat in the head pipes. The cat is located in the collector tube behind the collector welded to the ends of the head pipes. The term HD uses in it's manual is "collector tube".
I done TC96's, TC103 and TC110. It did not improve the performance or sound nor did it diminish the performance in any way for those five bikes.
There is no improvement in power or sound. The HD cat is very high flow and removing it will not reduce any back pressure.
The 10 on touring bikes cats were in the collector tube as is the Dyna Switch back for all models. Previous years were in the California bikes only. The 10 on Dyna's and Softails are in the muffler. Don't know about earlier California models. Except for export and possibly California no 49 State Vrod's or Sportsters have cats in them. Yet!
