Default 88 CI is a quiet motor, eh?

Just installed V&H Monster Ovals and it does not sound as good as I thought it would. It just doesn't have the deep and loud sound of a 96. I heard these same muffkers on a 96, then on mine, and it's a big difference.

It's your imagination. I have the same pipes on mine that were on if before the displacement upgrade and there's no sound difference.

I don't get it! What gives?
I swear my bike is quieter than my friend's bike. I have the "exact" same exhaust he had on his. It's a stock 88" with stock 2-1-2 exhaust headers, and the V&H Monster Ovals.
Maybe it's just me...

Don't get me wrong, I like the sound and the looks of the pipes; it does sound deeper than what I had. Probably not as loud, though.

Maybe a different cam will get you the "sound" your looking for.
