Default Michelin Tire Pressure

Owner's manual for my Dyna Super Glide says front tire pressure should be set at 30 p.s.i., my local H-D dealership insists it should be set at 36 p.s.i. !
I've taken the middle ground and been setting it at 33 p.s.i., anybody have any idea of the "correct" pressure? I'm leaning towards Michelin's opinion.

if you have a warranty on your tires liek some of the dealers offer i would stick with whatever your manual says. if your tires are not under a dealer warrenty then stick with what the tire says on the sidewall that way if something happens as a result of manufacturer defect you followed the manufacturer specs. no offense to HD techs, but they all have thier own bias' and opinions and i dotn put no stock into them as most are clueless and overpaid.

The correct pressure for any tire is indicated on the side of the tire. Usually stated as "maximum load xxxlbs at xxpsi"

I'm running 38 in the front and 40 in the rear... Michelin Commander II's... when solo.

38 in the front and 42 in the rear plus bump up shock psi from 25-45 when I have company.

This has been working really well running hard through the mountain roads, cantons and hwys of Colorado.

From the Michelin tire site:

NB: The maximum pressure indicated on the tire is never to be considered for road use. This is the pressure corresponding to the tire’s load index.

There is a wealth of information about your tires on the Michelin page.

That may be true for bicycles but, not for cars or motorcycles. The pressure indicated on the sidewall is the maximum, not the recommended pressure.

100% error free post !

I see it all day long.. people always pumping their tires to the max pressure listed on the sidewall. i guess reading the brightly colored large font label on the door jam is harder then reading the tiny print on the tire..

I had a car in a while back and the customer had put 80# in the tires.. it road like a rock.. and extremely dangerous to boot !
