I have three bikes, the wife has one Right now I'm looking for an XR1200R or X. If that doesn't materialize then maybe a 77 or 78 XLCR. Heck, I've even thought about one of the XB Buell Lightnings.
Anyway, what I'm saying is: I love riding so much that nothing is going to stand in the way me going out for a ride. Mechanical issue? I pick another bike.
a bar hopper (which i have) and a touring bike would be my 2. But I know only one would get used primarily. So it goes back to affording the 2nd bike. Insurance, maintenance, etc.
I have had MBS most of my life. Just never found one bike that will do it all. I tour, I hop, I ride dirt trails and I like to go very fast. FLHT is a good go to bike for work or cross country. The Fatboy Is my hopper, Suzi is my hotrod and the Vstrom was my trailer, I am in the market for a lighter enduro. I buy used stuff mostly. I can have 4 bikes for less than a lot of guys vest in just 1. The right tool for every job, as Dad would say. Now collecting, that is a different discussion. I want 1 of everything.
Had three, but just sold the Deluxe. The OL's 1200 Custom is a nice change of pace on the mountain roads up here. I found the Road King, with the Stage ll 103,was twice the bike for all around riding,as the Softail was.More power, comfort, and superior handling solo,or two up.Little Harleys don't have enough *** to suit me.
I got a couple bikes in Metuchen. Who was your salesperson? I have always dealt with Maire, shes awesome.
Regardless, to your original question, I have two bikes. I bought my Diavel(from Maire) last September. I just picked up my Fatbob 3 weeks ago.
A week before I got my HD, I hit 1000 miles on the Diavel. In the past 3 weeks I have almost 500 on my HD. I havent ridden the Diavel since I picked it up.
Ok, thats a lie, I rode it to work today. It felt awkward and not as fun as it used to be. I just love being on the Harley to be honest.
I plan on keeping both as the Diavel is much more flickable on twisties and gets up and goes a whole lot more evil-like. But on most of my other rides, its always going to be the Fatty.
Terrance sold me the BMW and I went down to the Triumph building and even though Terrance did the trade-in and sale, a young guy (Jim?) took care of me at triumph. He got ****ed nd should have made the sale. Upgraded pipes and swapped out blinker-neutral-oil lights with l.e.d.'s that you can actually see during the daylight.
Good dealership. The girls that sell helmets, gloves, jackets really know their stuff and how to fit you. They talked me out of using my nov helmet for a shoei neotec(at leat for the winter) and I am considering buying a good well ventilated 3/4 for the summer. I love wearing the novelty lid but it is really stupid. The parts guys are awesome and installed a scala BT perfectly on my shoei.
I am pretty sure I am going to sell or trade the triumph for something completely different than the slim.

Beautiful bikes. If I was to do it again and was not so thrilled with my slim I would definitely buy a road king and that would cover it all.
