A couple of weeks ago I was reading through all kinds of forums here, and I found an article about headlights for 02 fatboys, as we have sealed beams in ours. I had also ordered a silverstar bulb for my bike without checking to see if I had a sealed beam. I was under the impression tat sealed beams were a thing of the longlost past. Anway, TCTSD had written this post and said get a JC Whitney headlamp to replace the sealed beam. I looked it up and it was only 17.99. Wow, actually fitting in my budget. It has just arrived. I am going to put it on with the silverstar bulb. this headlamp also came with an h4 bulb, but I'll save that incase the silverstar ever burns out. The forums rule...

I swapped the oem headlight to a 'smooth lens' unit on my Road King. I picked the new one up at a local auto parts store for $20...LOTS cheaper than the $95 or so that Harley gets.
When I went to mount it, I ended-up having to trim the tin 'bucket' that the headlight mounts in...I had seen footnotes concerning 'modifcation may be required' on websites while searching...but didn't think too much of it.
If yours does not wanna fit right - make sure you have a Dremmel, and a good grinding bit - cause you will have to remove about 3/16"s of metal around your headlight 'bucket'. Not a difficult job...it's just kind of a pain in the a$$. You can also use a pair of good tin-snips... I opted not to because I am felt like spending the time in the garage.
Just put it in, perfect size. No problems at all EXCEPT I forgot to put the rubber boot on it. I guess before the next wash it will go on...I am a happy man wth a very bright sylvania silverstar bulb. It is so much brighter than my other light that I can tell in the daylight, but wait until tonight, people might be blinded...
