Without getting all defensive....
I would think those who cannot deal with that should pass and allow me to seek the information I came for in my quest to find the best year model for the bike i want..and what to look for within those model years and wonder why people don't scream out loud about some of the things HD is doing as a "premium motorcycle" All manufacturers have issue to DIFFERENT DEGREES. That is what sets perception of reliability apart. You may go now.
To the OP, ask your questions all you want. Just dont compose every question with an insult or some slam on Harleys.
You know what? Why dont you just go haunt some other forum with your inane banter and bullshit claims of superiority of metrics.
To everyone else, please do what I am going to do and that is IGNORE this thread and dont feed the Troll anymore. JHC! Do we have to let this idiot continue to waste our time?????
My brother has two Ducatis and yes they have had some issues but they do not have a long term public reputation for such. When someone asks Joe blow on the street what is the least reliable motorcycle what do you think they say? Ducati? BMW? Honda? Yamaha? Harley? PLUS Ducatis are leading edge technological motorcycles as are BMWs so I would expect some issues. I would expect far less problems from a 110 year old basic design..ya think?
You would think they would have got it right by now.
I don't care what Joe on the street thinks about motorcycle reliability, why would I? I think you might want to take another look at many of Ducati's and BMW's engine designs. Or, pay for a valve adjustment at 7000 miles or any of the other little brand specific things one has to deal with. I mean for god sakes, Ducati can put out a bike with on the fly tuning adjustments but can't build a bike that does not require frequent valve adjustments? I am not trying to bust on Duc's, I love the bikes and if I had the extra money I wanted to spend I would have a 1099 in my garage. I am just pointing out what I stated originally, all types have little annoying issues that are not addressed in a timely fashion. At this point in history I do not believe there is much difference in quality from one type of bike to another.

I am guessing some of ya don't understand how someone can desire a Harley and not care about the rest of the "lifestyle" crap. How someone who wants said bike wants to learn as much as possible about the motor and which years are the best and worst. Some of ya all would never admit to there even being worst years They are ALL the best. "Friends" like that I don't need.
Honest people who admit weaknesses and guide people to the best of the best are those whom I respect and have admiration for. Harley will never be tattooed where "mom" would be. It won't be my mommy....It will be my ride of choice for awhile. Nothing more nothing less. No magic, no emotional attachment to the inanimate. Just another fun ride in the park.
